Permanent Jewelry in Minnetonka: A Different Kind of Studio Experience

When I imagined opening my studio at Haven, I thought the hard part would be the transition to a new space. Buying replacements for items my previous studio included, figuring out a new display for the chains, determining which of my systems needed to change. The hundred small decisions that go into turning an idea into a place people can actually walk into.
But that wasn't the hardest part. The hardest part has been trusting it enough to leave room for it.
The Hardest Lesson My Minnetonka Studio Has Taught Me
I've been simultaneously thrilled and somewhat overwhelmed by all of the requests that have poured in this summer. Pop-ups...collaborations...private events...markets that would be "so good for exposure."
When you're building a business, every one of those can feel like an opportunity you can't afford to pass up. For a long time, I said yes to almost all of it. Not because I didn't know better, but because saying yes felt like momentum. A full calendar looked like success.
Over the summer something shifted. I wasn't chasing opportunities anymore. They were coming to me.
That sounds like a good problem to have, and it is. But it also means the things I'm saying no to aren't necessarily bad opportunities.
And I've discovered it's easy to decline something mediocre. It's much harder to decline something good in order to trust something quieter. For me, that quieter thing is the studio.
Why I'm Making More Room for Studio Appointments

It's been so exciting to repeatedly get email notifications about appointments being booked. People are walking through the door, sitting down, choosing their chains and having the experience I built this space to give them.
But that can only happen if I'm actually there. If every available evening and weekend gets filled with an event, collaboration or pop-up, I'm not giving the studio the opportunity to become what I believe it can be. So I'm learning to leave room.
That's uncomfortable because an open evening doesn't look productive. There's no event recap to post or immediate transaction to point to as proof that something happened.
I'm trying to remind myself empty space isn't failure. Sometimes it's the exact condition something needs in order to grow.Protecting that space has helped me get clearer about what I want your experience at All That Glitters to feel like.
Permanent Jewelry Appointment vs. a Pop-Up: What's the Difference?
I love a good pop-up. They're part of how All That Glitters grew, and they're a fun way to discover permanent jewelry while you're already out doing something else.

A studio appointment is intentionally different. At a pop-up, you're choosing from the collection I've brought with me. There may be other people waiting, and the experience is naturally designed to keep moving.
At my Minnetonka studio, there's nowhere else you need to be. You have time to look through the collection, compare chains, ask questions and change your mind. If you can't decide whether the delicate chain or the sparkly one feels more like you, nobody is standing behind you waiting for the chair. The goal isn't to get you welded as quickly as possible. It's to help you leave with something you genuinely love.
What to Expect When You Get Permanent Jewelry in Minnetonka at the Studio
If you've never had permanent jewelry before, the actual process is surprisingly simple. You'll start by browsing the available chains and deciding what you want to create. I carry options at several price points and in a variety of styles, from simple everyday chains to the gemstone and stone-set pieces in my Reserve Collection.
Once you've chosen your chain, I'll custom fit it to you. Instead of adding a traditional clasp, I use a small weld to close the chain while you're wearing it. The welding itself takes only a moment and doesn't touch your skin.
Then you're done. No clasp. No taking it on and off every night. Just a piece that's fitted specifically to you.
Permanent bracelets are the most popular choice, but depending on the chain, we can also create anklets, necklaces, rings and other styles. And you're absolutely allowed to take your time choosing. That's one of the reasons the studio exists.
The best part? We take a fun Polaroid when you're done that you can take home, plus I add you to my photo wall so I can remember all the sparkle!
More Than Permanent Jewelry
Permanent jewelry may have started this whole thing, but All That Glitters has become much more of an experience studio.
Depending on what you're in the mood for, you can also:
Choose a bracelet or necklace and add the charms that make it yours. You can go sentimental, completely unserious or somewhere in between.
At the Scent Bar, you'll blend fragrance notes to create a custom scent that's uniquely yours. This is especially fun with a friend because you'll quickly discover that "you have to smell this" becomes approximately half of the conversation. Scent Bar appointments are available on select Sundays.
I offer boutique ear piercing for lobes and outer helix, with jewelry selected to feel like part of your existing ear rather than an afterthought.
The Gloss Bar lets you create a custom lip gloss by choosing your color and finishing touches. The Gloss Bar is open several Sundays each month.
You don't need a birthday or milestone to do any of these. Solo appointments and friend dates are welcome, too.
Visiting All That Glitters in Minnetonka
All That Glitters is located inside Haven Beauty Collective in Minnetonka, making the studio convenient for clients throughout the western Twin Cities metro.
I love getting the studio ready for appointments. Lighting the candles, hanging the chains, making sure the chocolate and beverages are stocked and the playlist is just right. When you come in, I want it to feel homey, cute, and like a place you can stay for awhile.
That's the whole point. I didn't build the studio to create another transaction squeezed between two other things on your calendar. I wanted it to be intentional time, the kind that's becoming surprisingly difficult to find.
I'm still learning to trust that making room for that experience is worth saying no to some genuinely good opportunities.
But maybe that's the lesson. If we don't intentionally protect space for the things we value, our calendars will happily fill themselves with everything else.
The calendar fills itself. The meaningful moments don't.
